Door wreath with dried flowers
A wreath with dried flowers is a particularly good summer door decoration: Dried flowers don't wilt in the heat and, depending on how they've been treated, retain their color very well even in sunlight.
For this door wreath, I chose a slightly different version, with the dried flowers arranged upright and not tied around the metal ring.
Material List
- Metal ring
- Dried flowers
- Cord
- Washi tape / colored tape
- A piece of cardboard
Step 1: Preparation
To prepare, you should first consider the height at which you want to position the cord for threading the dried flowers. Then, cover the area with washi tape to prevent the cord from slipping while you work.
When wrapping the cord, make sure you loop it around the metal ring each time before wrapping it back to the other side. I also made sure to alternate the cord around the front and back of the ring. Imagine yourself wrapping the cord in a figure eight – alternating between the front and back of the ring on each side.
Finally, tie the cord with a tight knot. Make sure you position the knot on the back of the ring so that it won't be visible when the wreath is hung later on.

Step 2: Threading the dried flowers
Next, begin weaving the dried flowers into the cord one by one. Especially at the beginning it can be helpful to use a piece of cardboard to stretch the cord slightly to make weaving the flowers in easier.
Make sure to alternate the flowers between the different strands of the cord so that the cord stays nice and flat and securely holds the dried flowers.

The final result
Once you are happy with the number of dried flowers and their positioning, you can remove the washi tape from the metal ring and hang up your door wreath.
